Model Overview & Print Notes
Keep your spare build plates in an upright and organized state with this modular storage rack. The left and right end pieces together accommodate 10 plates. Add 5-slot middle sections, 10-slot middle sections, or a combination of both to match the size of your collection. Low front guides facilitate easy access to the plates, while tall rear guides along with a continuous backstop ensure they remain properly aligned. I designed this holder for the Creator 5’s 256 × 256 mm build plates, which have a physical size of **269 × 270 mm**. The open front and top also accommodate many other plate sizes, as long as their edges fit within the channels and they remain stable in the holder. The modules are connected through matched dovetail joints. Lower each section into place to assemble the rack, without the need for screws or glue. Add middle sections when more storage space is required. The holder has 2.4 mm wide channels spaced 10 mm apart Please verify your actual build plate thickness, edge shape, and pull tabs using the included test pieces before printing the full rack. Compatibility with other plates has not been physically tested. Print plate 4 first to verify the fit of the connectors with your filament and slicer settings, and ensure that your build plate moves smoothly through the test channel. Repeated plate numbers indicate that the corresponding plate needs to be printed twice. The dimensions listed correspond to the empty rack, including the end braces and the overlapping joints. Adding five slots increases the width by 50 mm, whereas adding ten slots increases it by 100 mm. The assembled 20-slot rack measures **236 mm wide × 240 mm deep × 95 mm high**. Given that the front-to-back dimension of the Creator 5 plate is 269–270 mm and it is positioned against the backstop, the loaded depth is approximately **273–274 mm**. Consider any additional protrusion from the pull-tabs when determining shelf clearance. Little extra overhead clearance is required if there is sufficient space ahead to slide the plates out smoothly; however, more headroom is needed if lifting them out is planned. Print both small test pieces using the material and settings intended for the full modules. 2. Lower the female socket vertically over the male dovetail, ensuring the base edges are aligned. It should fit in place manually without force. Remove any first-layer adhesion residue or flare before assessing the fit. 3. Verify that an actual plate edge slides freely through the test channel. 4. Print the modules you have selected. Place the short guides at the front, and the long guides along with the backstop at the back. 5. Start with the left end, then lower each subsequent module vertically onto the dovetails of the module ahead. Keep the front edges even. The joints resist lateral separation but allow vertical separation. Support all modules when moving an assembled rack.
