Model Overview & Print Notes
Summary Norepinephrine (C8H11NO3, CAS 51-41-2) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Instead of colour coding, every sphere carries its engraved element symbol. Plain ball-and-stick prints look the same for every element: the STL format has no way to say which ball is carbon and which is oxygen. The MolGod approach puts the information where students look for it, on the atom: every sphere is engraved with its symbol. Our goal is to let students understand on their own how the atoms are arranged, how they are bonded and what the 3D geometry looks like, straight from the model in their hands. No CAD skills are needed on the teacher's side; the structure, geometry and labels come ready in one file. Teachers and researchers can find the project rationale and validation plan at https://molgod.org/engraved-molecular-models/ . At its heart, Norepinephrine is built around one aromatic 6-membered ring. The model shows 23 bonds: 17 single and 6 aromatic, drawn in Kekulé form. Quick starter: ask students to count the engraved symbols (8 C + 11 H + 1 N + 3 O) and check that they add up to 23 atoms and the formula C8H11NO3. Team task: with the model in hand, each group marks the two phenolic hydroxyl groups (Ar-OH), the hydroxyl group (-OH) and the primary amino group (-NH2), then writes down what they found. Turn the model until the lowest-priority group points away, then read the direction of priorities: for Norepinephrine the expected result is R across one stereocentre. A good fit for lessons on aromaticity and delocalised electrons, on chirality, enantiomers and CIP (R/S) rules, on alcohols and hydrogen bonding, on phenols and hydrogen bonding, as well as on amines and basicity. Teachers and students can use this MolGod.org model free of charge. Teachers: pair it with the MolGod.org record to connect the 3D shape with identifiers and data. Free to print and free to bring into any classroom. When you publish a photo, a worksheet or a remix, CC BY-SA 4.0 requires you to credit "MolGod.org" as the author of the model, link to the original and to the licence, indicate any changes and share remixes under the same licence (the ready attribution line is below). Nothing else is needed: no account, no cost, no compulsory feedback. Every review helps us refine the models for students. Tell us what you think in the comments, or reach us at https://molgod.org/contact/ . Let's talk chemistry! Ask anything about this structure in the comments, and other teachers are warmly invited to share their lesson ideas. Missing a compound for your lesson? Give us the CAS number and we are happy to create its 3D model.
