Model Overview & Print Notes
Summary Want all three sets? Get the complete SAE + Metric + Torx set here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7424148 Those $5-10 flip-out hex key sets are cheap, but they are a pain to use. Pop the keys out and give each one a real handle! This set includes 9 handles (5/64", 3/32", 7/64", 1/8", 9/64", 5/32", 3/16", 7/32" and 1/4") and a holder that screws to the underside of a workbench or shelf. Every handle is a different size and labeled, so each one only fits its own spot, and the kids put them back where they belong. We have used these around the house and in my workshop for months. They work awesome. Also available in matching Metric and Torx sets. Print SAE in red, Metric in blue and Torx in gray to match standard tool color coding. Parts Folding hex key set. These are the ones I use: https://www.harborfreight.com/pack-of-3-folding-star-bit-and-sae-metric-hex-keys-94905.html (Hyper Tough from Walmart should also work: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hyper-Tough-3-Pack-Folding-Hex-Key-Set-with-SAE-Metric-and-Star/703266238 ) 2-4 wood screws to mount the holder Optional: super glue Assembly Take apart the folding set to get the individual keys. Press each key into its matching handle. They are a tight fit by design: use a hammer, a good pair of pliers, and a flat head screwdriver to push them all the way in (see photos). If a key is loose (2 of my 25 handles were), add a drop of super glue. Screw the holder to the underside of your bench and drop the handles in. Tip: color the raised labels on the holder with a Sharpie, or use a filament change for the top layers. Attributions None, my original design.
