Model Overview & Print Notes
Summary Remix of SamWebster's "Knee joint - femur, tibia and fibula with tunnels for cord to replicate ligaments" Is your daily grind the grinding in your knee? Time to see the doctor? Time for Physical Therapy? Print up this model and show them right where it hurts. You can even show them with the model "Doctor, It hurts when I go like THIS" AND, a great gift for that Med Student in your life, (and ALL doctors are Med Students) IF you are a Med Student, THEN you might want to review the references with additional models. SHORT ANSWER: Re-did holes and moved the ligaments Added a stand Simplified printing and assembly Added references for this and other models. MEDIUM ANSWER: Reference model "Knee-with-strings.stl" shows how the parts come together, and the two loops for the elastic. NOTE: It is NOT meant to be printed. The other STLs are the two parts of the model (including the stand). They were printed with brims, BUT no infill, and no supports. To speed up prints, I printed in 0.3 layers. The thicker layers probably adds friction for the joint so it stays where you put it. Wow... no infill... even with those Meniscus Pockets Yep. A puzzle for the reader. Another puzzle for the reader, How do you get motion blur when creating a stop-motion video. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ASSEMBLY: 1/4 " (6 mm wide) polyester-rubber elastic (20" = 50 cm) Print the model parts (brims, no infill, no supports) . Loosely thread both loops of 1/4" (6 mm) elastic through the Tibia, Femur, and Fibula See "Knee-with-strings.stl" on the paths of the loops . Tighten each loop and knot it closed. (see KneeKnots.jpg) Trim any excess elastic from each knot and Pull/Tug each loop so the knot slides into its hole. .
