Summary Garage Door Remote Holder (for 7/8" Handlebars) Purpose Designed with motorbike riders in mind, this holder holds one of the most common universal 433 MHz garage door remotes on the market onto your 7/8" handlebars, allowing for quick access without the hassle of taking your gloves off and reaching into your pocket. The shell and lip hold the remote securely with little to no friction, allowing you to just clip the remote in when you're going out to ride and pull it out when you're parked, all with ease. The clamp uses two M5 hex head bolts, 45mm in length, and two Nylock nuts. Details Designed using Autodesk Inventor Sliced using Creality Print 6.1 Printed with 1.75mm eSun ePLA+HiSpeed in black, costs around 14g depending on print orientation and subsequent supports required Printed on its side, left -> right (for layer line strength for clamp lip, and shell aesthetic), but can be printed bottom -> top too, for less support material Notes 27th June 2025 Not my first rodeo with CAD, but certainly my first proper design with 3D printing in mind. The main driver for this project was my recent acquisition of Creality's new HI printer (which works great) and my dissatisfaction with existing garage door remote mounts for handlebars. This took roughly 50-60g of filament from the first prototype to the final design, and about 15 hours from photos to the final product! I'm really proud of it and have learned a little bit more about the world of 3D printing. If you'd like me to modify this to match other handlebar widths, just let me know; it'll be an easy change from my end. For better performance and outdoor use, consider printing using PETG or ABS. I've only used PLA because it's what I've got on hand, and it's literally my first roll of filament ever. The prototypes were all printed to 0.2 mm layer height, and the final product was printed at 0.1 mm for better strength and aesthetics. 15th July 2025 Changed the licensing to allow remixing! Feel free to adapt the clamp to any bar size you want, or other attachment mechanisms :) 25th February 2026 By popular demand, I've uploaded a version without the bar clamp mount, just a flat back and two holes to do whatever you please with it! This version is V2 n.b. Because of the flat back dimension, the plastic is much more compliant, so the remote 'clips' in and out more easily, unless you attach the back to a rigid surface.
