Model Overview & Print Notes
Four-color Santa coaster
This guy is looking up at you from the table with a pretty good mood. The coaster is 100 mm across and just 2 mm thick, so it sits flat but still feels sturdy.
It’s printed in four colors: a bold red rim, a skin tone for the face, white for the beard, hat and pom-pom, and a bit of black for the glasses, eyes and facial details. It’s set up for multicolor printing on the Snapmaker U1, so all four colors print in one go with no manual swaps.
I made it for the holidays, but it also works as a small gift or as decoration next to a mug of mulled wine. A thin felt disc or a bit of cork underneath keeps it from sliding around on the table.
One honest note: PLA gets soft at around 55-60 °C. That’s no problem for cold drinks, a cookie plate or a candle kept at a distance. If you want to put boiling-hot cups on it, print it in PETG instead.
Best print settings for the Snapmaker U1
The project was set up in Snapmaker Orca 2.4.1 with the “0.20mm Standard @Snapmaker U1 (0.4 nozzle)” profile. The file already specifies a 0.4 mm nozzle, PLA, 220 °C nozzle, 65 °C bed (Textured PEI), 0.2 mm layers and a 0.25 mm first layer. I built on that. The values below are my recommendations, and the file hasn’t been sliced, so I can’t give print time or filament usage.
Filament assignment
- White = slot 3
- Black = slot 4
- Red = slot 5
- Skin tone = slot 6
Check in the slicer that these four filaments are mapped to the four toolheads of the U1. The project lists six slots, but only these four are used.
Santa-Untersetzer in vier Farben
