Model Overview & Print Notes

Here we have a water tower that borrows design ideas from Kim Brumble's on thingiverse but with some significantly different features and dimensions.   Thank you to Kim for sharing his modeling work.  The tank is designed for printing with an MMU material changer or a 2+ extruder system.   The tank body is 60mm in diameter and the assembly is a little under 10" tall. PLA is recommended.   An MMU .3mf project file is provided for the tank.  Prusa Slicer is able to load .3mf files and write STL files if desired. Print the tower deck without supports; it is too hard to remove support material.  There will be only a small amount of drooping for the railing. The tank top is designed to be loaded as one part with two bodies and printed with an MMU.  I used supports with the tank top and bottom.  Clean up the support material carefully on the glued surfaces with a chisel shaped razor knife.  You do not need to clear the interior of the top. The pipe is simply a 6" x 0.25" diameter tube which could be purchased and painted.  I printed it as two halves laid flat plus the alignment-aid rectangular rod, and glued them together. Study and fit the parts before starting to glue.  I used liquid CA glue (Super Glue).  Glue the tank top to the tank body.  Next the tank to the deck.  Then glue the tank bottom to the deck + tank.  Glue the pipe together.  Use the tower base and deck to hold the frames in position as you glue them, first diagonally opposite joints and the two remaining long joints. Drink a Dr Pepper as you celebrate your finished project.
