Model Overview & Print Notes

I used to use LED strips above my printer in my LACK rack, but the shadows cast from that angle made it hard to see the very bottoms of parts, to tell if they were starting to peel up from the bed. So I made these mounts to light parts evenly down to the bed surface, using IKEA's nice bright MITTLED strips. They're really bright, and the diffuse strip doesn't cast as many hard shadows as discrete LEDs. Fusion360 files are included for modification. The lights can be mounted behind the front 2 LACK legs, so they're not visible when working with the printer from the front, but still give good light coverage. Parts Required 1x IKEA LACK 2x IKEA MITTLED Strips - 15 inch or 12 inch size 2x IKEA VAGDAL connection cords 1x IKEA ANSLUTA or other LED power supply 1x Printed set of either 35 or 45 degree versions of this model A few short wood screws, ideally with flat heads rather than countersunk ones to avoid splitting the prints. I used spares from my IKEA FIXA box. Instructions Print a full set of either the 30 or 45 degree parts. I've used the 45 degree version. The L/R titled files are for the left and right leg. Mounting height depends on the length of LED strip you bought, but for the 15" version, the bottom bracket needs to be installed within 1-2cm of the bottom of the table leg to fit. The LED strip will sit on the bottom closed bracket, and is held in place by the top one. When screwing the brackets in, it helps to pre-drill or at least hammer the tip of of the screw into the wood to create a divot and keep the screw from wandering, which can be a challenge when screwing it in at a 30-45 degree angle. If you're like me and too stubborn to cut your filament and un-stack the tables to install new lights, you can rotate the LACK legs 180 degrees for access, screw in the brackets, then spin them back. I used the included 3M cable routing channels to bring all the cables back to one LACK leg and hide the hub behind the table, plus a command strip to mount the light switch to the top of the table.
