Model Overview & Print Notes

We have broken most of our Vex robotics crank handles, likely because of the torque the students frequently apply to them. This handle has a loose rotator that allows for high-speed cranking, and it's a slightly larger piece. It was designed with the big PLTW automaton project in mind, but can be used for any project using Vex axles. If you need a different type of hole, it's easy enough to use a negative volume in the Prusa Slicer, adjusting it to size. NEW: I have included a medium and a shorter handle to accommodate whatever box size you may be using to make an automaton. Print this in two parts, and snap the peg into the handle. I found a good pressure fit in several filaments, but you can always glue it as needed. I printed the rotator piece standing on its peg end, and used organic supports, selectively painted on. It doesn't take much support, and should rotate easily once they are removed. Update: I will be uploading a heavier-duty redesign of this type of crank handle later today. Save this one for smaller and lighter-torque projects. Sadly, it failed to ongoing Teenager Test!
