Model Overview & Print Notes
This is a learning/portfolio re-modeling of the “Motor Test Bench” originally designed by Ngo Nam on GrabCAD (original model: [ https://grabcad.com/library/motor-test-bench-4]; uploaded February 23rd, 2024). The bench uses two DC machines coupled back-to-back: one runs as a drive motor, the other as a generator, and torque is measured through torque arms and load cells. I re-created the design in SolidWorks, very close to the original, as a practice exercise. Full credit for the original concept and design goes to Ngo Nam. If the original author requests removal, this content will be taken down immediately. What this upload contains Main assembly ( with parts, sub-assemblies and drawings) and a STEP file Two sub-assemblies: lower chassis and upper drive group Fully exploded view with explode lines Exploded assembly drawings with BOMs (PDF): MTD-ASM-01 (lower chassis) and MTD-UTG-02 (upper drive group) Cover and exploded view images My own work in this project Splitting the assembly into sub-assemblies, BOM structure and part numbering Material assignments for all parts (design assumptions, not data of a real machine) Exploded views, explode lines and technical drawings Related: Static and modal FEA studies (rotor, bearing housing) are published as separate models on my profile. Third-party components Bearing models were downloaded from the manufacturers’ CAD libraries: SKF and Schaeffler (Medias). These models remain the property of their respective manufacturers and are used here for reference only. Bearing designations and dimensions should be checked against the official catalogs before any real use. Disclaimer Dimensions, materials and loads are design assumptions for educational purposes. This model is not validated for manufacturing. The motors are shown in a simplified form. Software: SolidWorks 2023 SP5. Analyses: ANSYS Mechanical 2026 R1 Student (separate uploads).
