Model Overview & Print Notes
Heat-Expandable Sphere Form – Thermoforming Tool for Transforming 3D Prints A practical thermoforming form designed to shape heat-expandable 3D printed models into smooth spherical or dome shapes. This tool is perfect for creators experimenting with heat-expandable prints made with sparse infill. When heated, the printed object softens and expands, forming a smooth rounded geometry. It can be used to create decorative containers, creative objects, and unique experimental designs. Perfect for • Thermoforming experiments • Heat-expandable 3D prints • DIY creative projects • Decorative containers • Candy holders or small gift containers • Educational demonstrations of material transformation How it works 1. Print your expandable model using sparse infill 2. Place the model between the shaping parts 3. Gently heat using a hair dryer 4. As the plastic softens, it expands and forms a smooth spherical shape The result is a clean and evenly shaped rounded form. Experiment with heat transformation and create unique rounded 3D prints 🔥 https://www.youtube.com/shorts/80aq5P19bwc ## 3D Printing Settings Recommended print settings: Material: PLA + or PETG Layer height: 0.2 mm Wall Line Count: 3 Top Layers: 0 Bottom Layers: 0 Infill: 15-25% (Customizable. At your discretion) Infill Pattern: Gyroid, Triangles, Grid (Experiment freely) Infill Overlap Percentage: 35% Printing Temperature: 210-215 Build Plate Temperature: 50-60 C Speed: 50 mm/s Supports: Not required Material note: Regular PLA and Silk PLA may not work well for this model. Best results are achieved with PLA+ or PETG, as these materials expand more consistently during heating. Recommendation: Make the top mold with high infill (dense filling) or use rigid / hard plastic Create gifts that transform with heat and surprise everyone Share your prints and creative variations!
